Malik Jackson: Jaguars Marrone not taking any cheap NFL jerseys
Last year’s Jaguars were pushed around, flattened and reduced to salt by the rest of the NFL.
Veteran defensive tackle Malik Jackson doesn’t expect that to happen under Jacksonville’s new-look regime, telling the team’s official website “it’s a lot more serious” with coach Doug Marrone installed as head coach under new executive VP of football operations Tom Coughlin.
“Marrone’s not taking any BS, and I think that’s the way it should be,” Jackson said. “He’s handling this with an iron fist, and guys are conforming, enjoying the time and understanding that we need to win some games.”
The fresh faces have preached “toughness” from the start, with Coughlin saying in February: “This league can benefit from more of (a tough) attitude. This team can. You’ve got to play through NFL jerseys for sale cheap some things.”
Understandably, Coughlin wasn’t thrilled with what he inherited. Winning rarely happened under former coach Gus Bradley, as Jacksonville sunk to an inglorious 14-48 mark over the past four seasons.
“Going 3-13 is not acceptable,” Jackson said. “And whatever we need to do … we’re going to do what Doug says.”
This all sounds pretty in May. A better record also sounds possible after the team drafted thunderous running back Leonard Fournette and signed cornerback A.J. Bouye, massive defensive lineman Calais Campbell and safety Barry Church in free agency.

“With the players that we have I just think as a team we should be further than we are,” Smith said, via ESPN’s Michael DiRocco. “As players, we’ve got to do our part in the sense of it’s not scheme, none of that. It’s what do we want? What’s our mentality going to be?
“The mindset of this cheap NFL jerseys wholesale team, things that we should be using to beat opponents are still beating us.”
Perhaps this is evidence of the more hard-nosed Tom Coughlin-Doug Marrone era taking shape. The team tried desperately to inject a new, more urgent attitude in its players this offseason and having one of the teams’ better defensive players call out the rest of the unit is at least… something.
While the offense and quarterback Blake Bortles have embodied the team’s struggles over the past year, this defense is now talented enough on paper to carry gargantuan expectations of its own. The club has a top-three pick in Dante Fowler and bolstered its defensive line with veteran Calais Campbell. They have a top-five pick in Jalen Ramsey at cornerback along with this year’s free-agent prize cornerback A.J. Bouye.
The defense could be the stingiest unit in the NFL. The secondary boasts two lockdown corners in Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye. Tashaun Gipson and Barry Church provide rangy experience at safety. The linebacking corps of Telvin Smith, Paul Posluszny and Myles Jack owns sideline-to-sideline playmaking ability. The defensive tackle tandem of Campbell and Malik Jackson will destroy interior offensive lines, and young edge rushers Dante Fowler and Yannick Ngakoue both bring promise and athleticism. That’s just the starting group.
On offense, Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns and Marqise Lee make up a dynamic receiving trio. The offensive line is solid, and could be upgraded if Branden Albert ever reports. First-round running back Leonard Fournette brings a bulldozing, workhorse back to Jacksonville, who should be able to balance out the offense immediately.
The only question that remains is quarterback Blake Bortles.
Ay, there is the rub. The Jags’ biggest question mark is at the most important position in sports. Bortles has the chance to redeem his career this season. He could also sink what is otherwise a playoff roster.
For Campbell, the Jags’ depth of talent will make the difference.
“I knew the team was very talented, but getting here and working with the guys and seeing the drills we do and how athletic the team is … this team is very athletic,” he said. “You just look at the depth. There’s a competition factor, bringing in guys competing for starting roles. And I wouldn’t say I was surprised by it, but the team is young. I knew that coming in, but the team is young. There are a lot of guys’ wholesale authentic soccer jerseys in that fourth or fifth year. There aren’t a lot of guys in that seven-plus range.”
Sunny articles in May about Jacksonville is nothing new. For the umpteenth year, the Jags feel like a team that can make a move toward a playoff spot. On paper, quarterback appears to be their only weakness. Football games have never been played on paper.
